Eat up... r2rank.blogspot.com/As always, feel free to post any comments, but I'm looking for grades, weight changes, head-to-head matchups, and tournament place. You can also contact me privately at guest.imator@yahoo.com. Thanks to those who are e-mailing me, keep it coming. Generally, I'm putting kids in weights they are currently wrestling. Team rankings are for the region tournament. They are not dual rankings, state rankings, or anything like that.

A few things I wanted to ask about here.
106- Why is the FQ kid so low? Im not in the loop as much as I used to be but as far as I know he outperformed Velez and whoever the LV kid is last yr. Didnt FQ make states? The one kid only got 4th in district from LV?
113- Raines wins easily, if you've seen him you would know and I'm confident in this. Some freshman in tougher weightclasses, either don't rank them or rank them where they should be. IMO, not offense
120- Looks good
126- Agree again
132- Tough call, got a bunch of qualifiers of kids who were in different weights last year. I like the call though. You're forgetting that Brentsville kid, Jacobs, who got 2nd in his district last year. He's a sophomore and definitely should be in there somewhere between 5-7
138- Dylan Wisman of Millbrook, same boat as Raines. He was a middle school state champ and 2nd at Cadet states last year(losing close to Street of Grundy). No rank is fine because he is new, but you'll see.
145- Kyle Barnett, district champ at 160 and region placer, ranked below a kid who got 2nd at what, 35? Barnett and the kids you got at 1-3 will be very interesting.
152- I agree
160- I agree, let see if FQ tries to move Baker...
170- I agree
182- Agree
195- Brentsvilles heavy from last year, Funes, should be here due to the lineup changes they have undergone. He should be an easy 2nd behind Jessen if things here don't change
220- Looks good
285- How is someone named "Ohio Transfer" going to be on the bubble lol??
I hope you take the time for a response and dont take any offense to this, I did rankings for years until you took over. Just some healthy constructive criticism.

No offense, your feedback is very reliable...
106: I usually don't rank this weight preseason, I'll just be happy if I have the right names there.
113: Raines is behind a 2x state placer and a state q that has gone to as many camps/clinics/tournaments a kid could possibly go to. Does he have a head to head against either?
132/138/145: thank you new weight system for stacking the talent into 3 weights instead of 4
132: a lot of skill at this weight, i missed jacobs
138: Raines and Wiseman are both good freshman, 113 is easier to be successful at, 138 not so much.
145: the kid got 2nd in a decent AAA district, barnett was in a district finals with another freshman who i think had a losing record. i put him 5th at one of the deepest weight classes, can't complain about that
182 up is so empty with "wrestlers" (no offense to anyone). Wouldn't surprise me to see some football players pulled out of the hall slip into the state tournament this year. Who has the next Shin?
285 a jefferson district source told me CV got a transfer from Ohio...

What's up with Jacob Crawford wrestling at 160? Didn't he just wrestle at 145 a few weeks ago in PA?

What's up with Jacob Crawford wrestling at 160? Didn't he just wrestle at 145 a few weeks ago in PA? It was at Super32, and it's called cutting weight. The more important question is how did he certify for 103 his freshman year when he was obviously doing the same sort of weight-cut. This question is not really about Crawford but about the weight control program or optimal performance calculator or whatever they are calling it this year. The WCP or OCP was put in place to safeguard athletes from the dangers of traditional dehyrdration strategies. In my opinion, the program has been a near complete failure. Stronger teams plan months out to ensure the results that they want from the pinch and hydration tests. They get their kids to match weight by the day of the test. If this weight is below 7%, they get doctors' notes. If they are dehydrated when they step on the scale, they tamper with the sample/trainer/etc. If the numbers don't shake out, they appeal it. Weaker teams (e.g. teams without clubs, without engaged coaches, without year-round wrestlers) tend to get burned by the program. They'll have kids with walk-around weights that fall between classes (say, 165) and because of their ignorance of the pinch or hydration test (e.g. that they shouldn't try to hydrate 20 minutes before the test) the kids will be unable to wrestle the lower class. The result: the kids on the stronger teams aren't protected and the teams on the weaker teams aren't protected.

My feedback used to be reliable... but being older now and not being their age, and not having my little brother in has burned half my sources. I do get a lot of hearsay but I don't tell anyone that because as said, I dont like going on that. Thanks for the compliment though. Ill try to help with results, its nice having someone unofficially take over for me as I enter quite a busy portion of my life.
As for the weight cutting thing, its stupid. Abolish hydration tests. These kids live with their parents, they should be responsible. Everyone's body is different. Some kids who may seem "fat" may be struggling just as bad as the kids who seem "too big". Im sorry to say, but this thing is way too easy to cheat. I never saw or heard of it in my room, but I've had people openly admit it to me. You can say what you will about that fact, but really it is what it is. Stronger programs should generally have very supportive parents that help their kids, and weaker programs have only themselves to blame for not being more engaged. Thats why you see so many "transfers" nowadays. In high school, I hated everything about say Christiansburg, but nowadays, in a brighter light, it all makes sense. Not going to be a popular opinion, but thats where I stand
