I'm not saying anything but, or blaming anyone for it.. but did anyone else notice the Jefferson district gets more spots at regionals than they have wrestlers? This needs to change. The people making these things, half of them haven't even played sports before. Look at EVD 106, NWD 145, NWD 220. Now thankfully 2 of 3 will be able to advance 4 this year, but what about the ones you dont? You have 3 kids in each of those who will probably go to states and at least win a match. What if there's a id behind them who doesn't get to go, but won 70 percent of his matches? He doesn't get to go, but hey, JD is advancing kids to the finals and a Dulles 6 gets to go? Completely wrong in my book. I think we should go by factual stats and percentages. However kids do over a period of time, they get a certain percent of region qualifiers that next yr. Heck seed regionals or maybe even do it like college wrestling and have a criteria you meet to automatically make it and do wildcard entries. I feel some kids may be getting shafted. Now, this should go for all sports too, I know NWD isn't as good at some things as the other districts so we should be cut in some things too. Maybe people can put a little more time and effort into this. And if in the future NWD and EVD kids arent as good, fine cut us then.. but now this is crazy. WC, SKY, FQ, MB, SHE, BD.. all top 10 teams this year and probably to come, but we get less numbers?
Okay my rant is done, sorry for the vent. Whos with me?

I agree. There are only 3 wrestlers in the 220 class. If these schools cannot fill the open spots then they should lose them.

Right, so byes at regionals while our kids sit at home? I don't like it.

I think its very sad. I'm from the JD , and not proud of it. It is very weak on the compitition level. We even have a weight class with only 2 kids in it. Alot of kids will advance to regionals that probably should'nt but it will get thinned out there. I know that doesn't fix any problems , but I agree , if you cant fill a spot give it to another district. There should be no byes in regionals....

Hi guys! You fellas are getting worked up over a whole lot of nothing. If it is like it has been in the past, those weight classes which don't have enough to fill, should then go into a lottery type system for the other districts, so the Northwest and Evergreen will have opportunities to get their 4s into the tournament.
At least that is what we were told last year, when we were a part of Region II.
Hope everyone is having a good year, we will be slugging it out in the Cedar Run this weekend and then off to Northwest Region.
Good luck to Dulles District and Region II at States

Based on what I've read, you want automatic qualifiers. I love the idea. My son was ranked first headed into Districts and finished 4th, missing Regional. One bad day knocked him out over a great season! ...Thought you should look at the other side of the coin

Well, that's a little off too. I'm just thinking something a little more organzied. Sorry about your son. Good luck next year!

Now this is pathetic. When did teenage wrestlers start developing kidney stones at a young age? Things that make you go...Hmmm? Could be that they are cutting to much weight?

Ha.. Im trying to decide how much he'll weigh here in a few weeks. Assuming we're refering to the same kid(we are). Don't call it out though. He already had a bad weekend

I'm torn on it. I'm sure it was his idea. No coach would force that. I hope

Anyone looked at the other regions? 10 wrestlers, 11 wrestlers in a weight class? This is not just an issue for Jefferson District and the disparity of quality wrestling and the number of kids. 11 kids fighting for the same 4 slots at states that Region II has 16 good kids shooting for.
