So, sitting on a western hook, back on the hips, parallel on top is okay if you are ahead in points. Figure four on a leg and tying up wrists without moving off the hips is not stalling as long as you are ahead in points Coach??? I thought the concept is that both positions continue to improve their position or they are stalling. Help me out here.

If the guy is riding hard and trying to turn, that is definitely ok. If he is running the guy out of bounds when the bottom guy stands up then no, it is not OK and should be dinged for stalling. If you are winning by a point with a minute to go then you should definitely try to ride the guy out. We reward the top guy in OT for ride outs.

When you step on that mat, you should be prepared to keep wrestling activity. That is the job of the ref and he better hold it up. If you like the early score guy...so be it. But if all he is gonna do is hand fight and pummel late, it is the job of the ref smell that out and start calling it much sooner than 20 seconds to the finish. I can call a thousand wrestlers stalling in that state. But hit with 40 or more on the clock, then they sweat. As well they should.

They should call stalling every 30 seconds if points aren't scored. Hit both wrestlers if nobody scores. Handfighting and isn't wrestling, you never see the college guys doing it. whatever happened to the cowboy and whalehook? Haven't seen them in about 20 years, now that's wrestling!

I am unrequited in my passion of the stalling rule. It is absolute BS. If a ref decides to call stalling. Please officials, call it when you can enforce the call!!! In other words, make the call and hit with points. Don't make your first hit with 20 seconds left and have it inconsequential. I know that refs are biased. They can't help it. But make the call and make sure the wrestler hit knows he just got hit. I did see a ref make sure of that at regionals. God Bless him. He did it right.

it clearly states in the rule book that if a wrestler is taken down to his butt, it is 2 regardless of the hold the defensive wrestler might have. Think about a blast double on the edge, you need 2 legs in your control and knocking the other man to his butt. Give the defensive man a reaction time, then the ref should award two, then whistle them out.
The center of the mat should not be any different.
Maybe move the stalling call to the same as college. Refs think to much about stalling. Just call it, if you have to verbally ask the wrestlers to wrestle you are not controlling the match.
