The coaching staff of NCAA DII powerhouse UNCP will be holding a clinic at Strasburg HS on September 22, starting at 9am. The cost of the clinic is $30. For any questions or to pre-register for this clinic please contact Trey Kirkland at KirklandWrestling@gmail.com or call (540)305-4590
Objectives: In session 1 Coach Johnson and his staff will teach a high intensity, constant attacking style of wrestling proven successful at the highest levels. He will emphasize the importance of position, hand fighting, and creating angles to set up your opponents, penetration step, and the finish. In session 2 he will cover leg turns and tilts on top, and escapes and reversals on bottom, that have been proven to work at the college level.
Coaches:
O.T. Johnson- Coach Johnson was a 2001 North Carolina state champion, and 3X state place winner for Mount Tabor High school. After high school he went on to become a 2X junior college All-American for Colby Community College in Kansas, and finished out his college career at UNC Greensboro where he helped his team to a 3rd place finish at the southern conference tournament. Coach Johnson severed 5 years as the UNCP head assistant coach before taking over last year as the head coach. In his first year as head coach, he lead the braves to an 8th place finish at the NCAA DII national tournament and coached Pembroke’s first ever National champion.
Chris Notte- Coach Notte was a 4X district champion, 3X regional champion, and 3X state place winner for Holy Cross High School in New Jersey. After High school he attended Nassau Community College where he placed 3rd at the Junior College national tournament in 2007, and was a Junior College National Champion in 2008. In 2009 Coach Notte Transferred to Oklahoma State University and took home 3rd place honors at the Big 12 tournament. In 2010 he became a captain at Oklahoma State and placed 2nd at the Big 12 tournament, making him a 2X NCAA DI national qualifier.
When: September 22, 2012 Registration will be from 8:00-9:00am, Session 1 is from 9:00-12:00, and Session 2 from 1:00-4:00
