Coach Nagy,
At 119 who do you think is the favorite in the DD this coming season from your point of view?

I'm not Coach Nagy but that is somewhat a foolish question to ask a coach inside their own district, or anywhere. Every answer is wrong.

How can it be a foolish question when he has in the past given his view on the different weight class. It has been said "The stupid question, is the questioned never asked." So, I'm asking the question. Ok, since you want to chime in on this. What your take on it being that your not a coach, but you are the guru in this neck of the woods. Also, do you know or have you heard of any up and coming wrestlers in the DD/REGION that might want to be on the look out for? So, lets hear it and all your infinite wisdom (No disrespect meant). I look forward to it

When you say he did that, all he did was state what the kid did last year, guess what weight the athlete would go, and all of that, never made predictions, which is what you wanted. I dont coach but I know if I was one I would not answer because your kid you are coaching can see. Bet for them, other coaches use it as poster board material, and you obviously can't bet against them.
119 for next season I guess my bet is that the best 2 kids in the weight are Luke Anderson and Bennett Payne. Put Hulcher and Rhea right below them. If I had to guess, Fletcher and Fake stay low at 12 and Marquina goes 25.
Sorry for calling your question foolish, I just thought it was obvious a coach wouldn't give a straight answer like that.

It's all good guru. Thanks for the input and I look forward to hearing from you once the season begins. Oh, who would you say is a sleeper or who should we be on the outlook for in the DD / Region?

I give the edge to Payne and Rea. Both placed in states. That is if Payne doesn't go to 12. Marquina at 125 or 130 (just my guess, I'm sure Coach Nagy has his thoughts).

Guru: How do you think Skyline will fare this year, being a pretty young team? And, besides the obvious Flornoy, does Fauquier have anyone who could really contend for a state title? Just looking to get the site rolling again, and I obviously respect your opinion. I definitely agree with you on Anderson.

Skyline is young but Keel has them working hard year around. Millbrooke has a great shot at 2 state champs with the return of Crawford . Fauquier's Flournoy should be the front runner also. Fauquier also has Payne, if he stays 112 he has a shot at the finals. Grimes has looked tough all offseason and should be right in the mix. Baker placed 5th last season as a freshman, he is also in the mix for high placement. They return two other state qualifiers and have atleast 3 backups from last years squad that should suprise quite of few teams. I think Sherando and James Wood graduated a lot. Little Swartz looked great at states last season, I think he will stay low in weight and place high at states. Henson is back at Brenstville, he's an exicting wrestler (watch those lateral drops), he has a shot at top 3 also. I'll try and research more and see if i can put something a little more indepth.

I apologize for the late response, my wife and I have been in the process of moving and the Eagle Wrestling Camp and family stuff has sucked up the rest of my time lately.
I believe that the original question was about the Dulles District so I will limit my answer to that for now. I would honestly say that there are 3 main guys to look at and then a group of up and comers.
The big three would be (In no particular order) 1. Nick Rea(PF) 2X state medal winner. 2. Brian Hulcher(BW) District Runner Up, 6th in Region II 3. Tyler Anthony(LC) District Runner Up, State Qualifier, former State Medal Winner
Of these three Hulcher seems the most likely to be at 119 and I doubt that there is any way that all three end up there. I think that Nick Rea will likely take a stab at 112, if he can and that if he makes that weight, he will clearly be one of the top handful of kids in the state. I believe that Tyler Anthony can also make 119, he has been wrestling a lot at 125 this off season, but the question with him will more likely be does he stay at 119 or bump to 125 for the team, and let little Smith to jump in at 119.
Also worth mentioning in this group are Jang and Schmidl of Broad Run who both were impressive at times last year...Jang in particular has the stature and explosion to be an excellent wrestler.
Finally, Smith(LC) should be interesting to watch if he is anything like his older brother. Missing out as a Freshmen should leave him with a lot to prove, so it should be interesting to see how he fairs against varsity competition, in what could be a solid weight class.
Hope this was helpful Coach Nagy

I forgot all about Tyler Anthony. If he's there I'd have to make him the favorite.
Skyline will be fine. They will have 2 studs in Kroh and Bass don't know much after that but their coach works them over the summer and that never hurts. The NW will have the weakest year its ever had next yr since I started watching back in 2000. If there was any time to have a younger team in the NW, next yr would be just that.
Fauquiers stud's seem to mostly be running into Christiansburgs studs. They are very tough in the middle still with the Epperly's, Eva, Linkous, and don't forget Redford and Bosley and Miles can all come back too. Even Flournoy will have it rough if he doesn't keep his weight down.

My 2 questions for all of you:
1. Does the NW district, have a chance of being ousted next year for the first time since the Valley district was around and in its prime by another district?
2. Does anybody have any shot at Fauquier?

From what I have seen and heard so far about lil smith he's someone that is up and coming. By no means is he like Big brother, but the kid has some skills. Nagy just might be right on this one, but time will tell.
