Terrific job, 11 matches in the span of a week? Incredible and most of the results are dominant. This is a young team too, correct?

I am getting tired of hearing about Orange and their wrestlers. Who have they wrested so far? What quality tournament have they been in? Have they beat any state-ranked kids? Why don't they start by placing in a "major" tourney and work from there. Skyline Opener? Super 32 at Riverbend? Don't duck the "biggies." If we see them in Regioinal they will see what hard work and success is about.

Take it easy mat man. Orange is a program that has taken a dip for a couple of years and is now back on the rise. They are the top team in the JD and the middle of their lineup can compete with the best of the region.

WOW! Why the hate? I do not see them coming on here and saying they are the best, but obviously Orange's coaches and fans are active and if it were not for them we would not have most of the results (let alone box scores) of many of the matches on here. If you are tired about hearing about Orange in the JEFFERSON DISTRICT board, then find another board, find someone else who will contribute or simply...shut the F up... Have a nice day! BTW any results from last night and who are at the Madison Duals? I get the schedule info from here: www.jeffersondistrictsports.com/wrestling.html

BTW, needless to say Matman, what you said about Orange is a slap in the face of the 13 or 14 schools they have already dueled. As a wrestler or parent of one or coach you should know how hard these kids work day in and day out. While these may not be the strongest programs in the state your comments are uncalled for an insulting to the nearly 200 wrestlers that have wrestled Orange, let alone the 14 starters on the Orange squad.

Wow, talk about hate. I dont recall one person from Orange talking, not one. For one to talk so much, you hide behind a fake name. I would like to see you wrestle, but you didnt leave your name, OOPS. I guess that was an oversight. Right?

MATMAN, IM SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD PROGRAM AND OBVIOUSLY HAVE CONFIDENCE IN HOW YOUR GUYS WILL PERFORM THIS SEASON. THAT'S GREAT. IN FACT I HOPE YOU DO WELL. THE BETTER ORANGE IS OR HOW THEY PERFORM IN THE SEASON, DISTRICTS, REGION, AND DOWNSTATE... THE BETTER YOU WILL LOOK IF YOU BEAT THEM. MINIMALIZING YOUR OPPONENTS ONLY MINIMIZES YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IF YOU WIN. THE BETTER EA. PROGRAM GETS IN THE REGION THE BETTER WE WILL DO DOWNSTATE AS A REGION. KEEP WORKING HARD. EVERYTHING IS SETTLED ON THE MAT ANYWAY... AND AS SAID, THIS IS A JD BOARD IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ IT, DON'T.

Hoping I'm not stepping into something overly nasty here, and with all recognition to how well Orange has done so far this year (It is nice to see a program working hard and on the rise), but... the OC fans/PARENTS/wrestlers (did I mention PARENTS) have sort of been "attention whores" the end of last year to especially this year, and not just on the JD board, but also the VAWA boards and the R2 main. Go to some national level tournaments, wrestle the Grundys, Robinsons, Westfields, Colonial Forges, Fauquiers, Manassas Parks and Osbournes of the world, put your guys up against upper level talent (or even mid to upper) and do well, and you won't need to post all of the "look at ME, look at ME, look at MEEEEE" messages for people to start noticing. After all, the truth is always told at Districts, then Regions, then States, and when the boys have faced tough opponents, it makes the local wrestling go much smoother. Congrats on a great season so far, just saying...

Pffan, I pretty sure Orange wrestlers (along with other JD teams) competed against several of the teams that you mentioned at summer camp and performed well against them. If you look around, many school budgets don't permit teams traveling to "National Tournaments". I appreciate it whenever teams post their results and highlights from matches.

For the record, I have seen Orange in action and they do look good (and much improved) from last year. I just would like them to compete in a Skyline or a Super 32 (Riverbend) quality tournament before they get too carried away. To be the best, you have to beat the best.
As far as the national tourney, they are cost prohibitive, and school budgets are a problem even up north. So that I understand.
Point taken on the 'Jefferson District board' comment, just needed to warn you what you will have lying ahead.
See you at Regionals.

First of all, its the parents and fans that are excited about the kids success. As one of the volunteer coaches, I tell them constantly that they havent wrestled the great teams yet. I tell them to remember regionals last year and that R2 is the toughest region in AA. Yes, I agree that the schedule isnt as tough as most. OCHS is strapped for $$$ and we have to raise $$$ so our kids can play sports. Next year I believe the schedule will be tougher. By the way Matman1, what team are you with?

Honestly I wish ALL school supporters were as active as the Orange group is. The boards are here for a reason, to give opinions, talk wrestling and see results. If the Orange folks did not post here it would be MIGHTY quiet and not only would there be nothing to complain about but there would be little to nothing on the board.
Finally I want to add that sometimes a very good dual meet team does not represent well in individual tournaments. A team with 4 absolute studs can all place 1st and give a team a tourney win while another team may place one or 2 guys but have a reasonably solid lineup.
Based on the input on the board this team looks very young but they are doing very well in spite of their youth. Perhaps they are not going to be a great tournament team but I would not count them out yet and certainly they appear ready to be very strong in another year or 2.

I have not seen Orange wrestle, but I will add on to what Guest Today at 5:17pm said, and the comments of a few others. It's good that people are starting to take an interest in our sport, and providing scores and forums such as this should increase that interest, and get more kids on the mats, which makes VA wrestling more competitive. Win or lose coaches, parents, and wrestlers should be on talking it up and reporting news, and scores. It's quite clear the local papers have little interest in doing there jobs. This is an outstanding resource....USE IT!
Also, I am sorry to hear about Orange's budget crunch, but the lack of tournaments for a young team can be a huge positive. It allows kids guaranteed matches.

Hey, just checked out this forum. This whole Orange convo reminds me of college football a couple years back. Orange being Boise State and these other so called powerhouses being Oklahoma. Just saying, anything can happen. Hook and laterals, Fumblerooskies, you go baby! Ha! Ha! Just having fun here!!!!

You're right vawrestler, anything can happen!!! They forgot when Orange was respected in the region. Not to long ago we placed 3rd in the regions. I believe we would have a great chance to win it all in 2011-12 or 2012-2013 but we have to go AAA for 34 too many students. Who knows, maybe we can give Colonial Forge a run the next 2 years. If the whole team would work as hard as Benner, Almond, Ryder, Raffery and Naive, we would be real nasty. Them boys worked most of the off season together.
