I should have explained, I forgot how several of the 3rd/4th place matches went. There was indeed 4 placers at every weight class.

Knabe and Morris both taking first was a little bit of a suprise. While both were seated in the top 4, neither was the favorite to win their class.

Thanks for filling in the blanks JD Watcher. I was pretty sure of a couple finishes, but didn't want to take a chance of not giving someone the credit they deserved.

Shin match was 11-2, not sure that should be considered close...

Very proud of all of my CWC guys this weekend. All that hard work has paid off. Coach Rivera has done a great job running practices this year.
Also, keep Ryan Brown of Monticello in you thoughts. Ryan suffered a concussion and a fractured vertebre in his neck in the last regular season match. He is more test run this week.

Congrats Perrin!!! That is the first time someone from William Monroe has ever placed 1st. Hard work pays off.

I said the Shin match was close for several reasons, including:
While there was a lot of tie-ups, Walls almost scored on slide by or duckunder. He was actually behind Shin, but I think Shin managed to neck wrench him and put him to his back for 5.
I can't remember the second time, but Walls was caught as he hit a move and didn't quite finish.
If I remember correctly, one of Shin's points came from an alternate start.
Lastly, with approx. 15 seconds, and Wall needing 4 points (I think), Wall went in sloppy and was thrown to his back for 5.
Shin did well and did outscore Wall, but it was mostly off counter wrestling. In fact, I thought Shin could have been called for stalling when they were in neutral and when he was on top. Here is the good news, we get to see both this weekend, and I hope both do well representing the Jefferson District.

Perrin Mills looked tough from start to finish.
Has anyone ranked the regional? Who from JD is going to be a threat?

I'd say the JD is toughest in 160 through 189, in that order. Chirico could go very deep into States.

Seems like a very, very generous view (to Walls, a great wrestler and kid) to call the match with Shin "close". Shin thoroughly dominated, with Walls was completely flustered. Shin's style is unique, and very difficult to work against. He's aggressive, but also counters incredibly well. Mistaking his relaxed style for stalling is unfair to Shin and his abilities, just as it is to suggest that his last five points came as a result of Walls' mistake. It was a great counter by Shin, period. Walls is a really solid wrestler, but Shin has now dominated him twice (a pin and 11-2 are decisive) and deserves recognition as a pretty unique talent. He's new to wrestling, but he's clearly been working hard elsewhere. I suspect he's going to do some damage next weekend...and the weekend after.

No disrespect intended, Shin is a unique challenge for sure. In the limited times I have seen him, aggresive never came to mind, though I agree - he does counter really well. It will be an interesting Regional.

Shin is dominant. In all of the situations he came out on top... Scored well and managed the match. Nothing taken away from Logan Walls. We wish them both well. We need to wish the opposition luck in States cause Kai Shin's style is going to frustrate more than Logan Walls...

I'd be interested in hearing what others think about IrishPollack's question about who from JD will be threats. I put 160 through 189 out there.

let's not forget that Whitmer plowed through at 215, and Scharf is the returning region champion at 119.

Scharf and Zimmerman will be interesting to see. They both are big for their weights and should be a good match for the best that the other districts have to offer.
I like the way Perrin Mills looks and wrestles. I know 112 is loaded, really loaded, but he seems to have the size, strength, and toughness to give it a run.
Chirico at 160 can compete with anyone there - agreed?
Connor Nave at 171 doesn't make mistakes. He wrestles with solid fundamentals and executes. He is my pick for 171 lb. champ.
At 189, Shin has proven to be the guy to beat out of the JD crew. His hips, balance, and length are, as another poster said - unique. I personally hope he defeats Jessen.
215 - As Westerndad said, Whitmer plowed through the competition. He is a bull at 215 and could be the wild card of the mix.
Who else?

Shin at 189 better worry about Roseberry before thoughts of Jessen even enter his mind. He underestimates Brentsville, he has no chance
Scharf and Zimmerman should make the finals though both have tough matches on the way.
Orange has a bunch of kids sitting right on the line.. it will be tough for them.
Whitmer will make top 4 question is how high in the top 4.
The kid at 112 is okay but 112 is too nice this year. I'm thinking those 4 I picked and Nordan could be the 2-6 guys in the STATE.
Nave should make it but stuck with the crappy road of beating 2 out of these 4: Wisman, Fahlfeder, Weiner, Shrock
